A week after George Russel’s first win of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, Mercedes returned to home territory near the Brackley and Brixworth factories, looking to continue the momentum of previous races.

Lewis scored his 104th Grand Prix victory, his first since Saudi Arabia 2021, and Mercedes’ second win in a week. It was also Hamilton’s ninth win at Silverstone, setting a new record for the most wins by a driver at a single circuit, breaking the tie with Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton and Russell started the Grand Prix from the front row on new Medium tires. Only Guanyu Zhou, Daniel Ricciardo, and Sergio Perez did not start on the Medium tire compound.

The Mercedes drivers held their positions at the start, keeping Max Verstappen behind them, who improved to P3 and was pressing the leaders. After three laps, Lewis managed to break DRS to the Red Bull’s Verstappen. Hamilton and Russell continued to set the pace at the front.

Meanwhile, the weather radar predicted a very light rain shower for the end of the race’s first third and a heavier shower a little later.
